Homeless? No. Right now we’re in a lovely home with a view that most people in the US would love to have. Society has changed. There is no more going to work after college and collecting a gold watch at age 65.
One has to go where the work is. So we are transients, though we stay for several years until opportunities die here or others come up elsewhere. The work environment since the economy collapsed has been interesting and we have been lucky to land on our feet with a major adjustment in income. Downward, silly.
People here don’t like transients and sometimes it’s mentioned at a dinner with neighbors then they realize my husband and I are there and we came for three months and stayed 2 1/2 years and are here in monsoons and mud and have been made part of the “year-rounder” family.
We love living in the mountains. The air is so clean (except when the baby skunks have a scent gland accident) and the stars are brighter than you’ll ever see in the city. Since I met my husband ten years ago he’s been showing me the US of A and I’m trying to show him the world. Cheers, Dee
Neighbors come and go, but Mikey’s folks have been around for years and are leaving. Farewell and good wishes in your new home. D
