OK, we’re the US Government and have a heck of a time recruiting new soldiers to get themselves killed by IED’s in the desert. No-one will volunteer so now, we’re going to recruit and have these recruits assert that they’re Christian and believe in God.
Sounds like a plan. Let’s get one of those think-tank organizations to devise a questionnaire for current and future soldiers to take. No-one will care about the purported church/state divide that our founding fathers espoused.
We’ll just make sure they’re not Muslim, Jews or, heaven forbid, atheists. This may also serve as a replacement to DADT because by being gay they’ve already sinned according to the Bible. Bully for us for getting rid of those queers once and for all.
This is great! Not only are we raiding poor communities to find people willing to serve at our bidding, we can later let them know that dying for their country is honorable, just like the people we’ve fought over the past century who encourage suicide missions. Oh, no need to worry, the cyanide pill is not included in case you get taken prisoner. Remember 9/11, and sign up right here! Just complete your spiritual fitness test first.

Please let’s not let this happen. Our nation’s children are over there in harm’s way. I think they all want to get home to their parents and sweethearts and that is a beacon that helps them every day. This new test, if failed by people who don’t believe in God or the god the government wants them to worship, keeps our troops over there every day spend more time there and less with their families back home.
I know it’s impossible to ask our federal government, especially the military, to have a heart. Just let the Pentagon know that your people do have a heart, each and every one of our armed forces. All have families they’re eager to see again and many have spouses and children they’re yearning to hold. Subjecting them to a spiritual “fitness” test would be an insult to their service, and their intelligence. With thanks for your continued service to our country, Dee
For those of you who only got to the word “queers” and hate me, read on. It’s an example of our military’s overreaching. OK, you don’t believe me, so ask my gay and lesbian friends of long standing. I’m not making a point about gays, but about how the military reacts as if touching a door knob turned by a homosexual actually hurts. Sorry, Dee
Ack, we follow you alright… (No hate here ;-)
Sorry I missed all the excitement w/your power outage etc… Made a quick road trip last weekend to visit an old college chum. Nostalgia time!
