Happy New Year!

We didn’t watch a ball drop, or fireworks. Sound asleep when the new year rang in, we were warm with all the shades down so we didn’t even look at the stars. Not tonight, where I’m preparing for dinner with a roaring (gas) fire and looking out at all the snow.

Today we tried to see The King’s Speech but there were only a couple of seats left in the front row so we bailed and went to a quiet lunch instead.

Jim’s having fresh fettucini with pesto (off the shelf at Whole Foods). I’m heating up some oriental chicken wings I made last night and will have a few bites of the pasta, and make a simple green salad for both of us to enjoy.

It’s nice to have a quiet day in the neighborhood, no pressures. The best news is that my kitchen light came in from Amazon today. The light under the microwave is very strange looking and I tried everywhere to find a replacement. It’s been out for two months and it’s difficult to see what’s cooking atop the stove. I also use it as a nightlight when we go upstairs to bed. So, there goes $2.67 for the bulb and $5 shipping! Now it’s on to getting the oven thermometer fixed so I can roast a chicken without temperatures all over the map!

Hope you’re having a great weekend. Cheers! Dee
