I knew the song before, but when Linda Ronstadt sang it, she had the Nelson Riddle orchestra and made it real for singles in the eighties. The twenties being alone means dating mostly useless guys, thirties, forget it. Then I met him. I’d been accustomed to the sound of Cole Porter’s They’re Writing Songs of Love, But Not For Me…
Finally, it was me. It wasn’t a thunderbolt, just a proferred hand to get out of his old Honda (which we just sold recently) and we waited a while to marry but have been together through tough times and survived.
The guy on the white horse comes in different guises. If you’re driving a unicorn that’s a different story. Be yourself. It’s the only way you can meet the right person for you. If you’re the cheerleader type, give a nerd a chance as if you’ve a brain and have been hiding it, together you may change the world. Girls, don’t hide the fact that you’re smart. You don’t want to partner with anyone that denies your talent and education.
Now to the bad part, if you’re in an abusive relationship, get out! Get out now! Seek comfort in the many shelters provided to women and children in need. Again, someone to watch over me. My prince on a silver Honda arrived and we’re nearing another anniversary. He is a dedicated family man who mostly works to live, rather than living to work. We enjoy evenings and weekends together and entertain when we want to.
J would never let anything happen to me, but he watches over me emotionally and is my best friend. I love him dearly as we near our 8th wedding anniversary and reunion with his family over Thanksgiving. Love happens at the strangest times. Yes, if it doesn’t work out it will hurt, but embrace it. Know yourself and be yourself first. Cheers, Dee
Ha ha – sometimes the prince rides in on a Holstein! If only I could find that old picture of J on the milk cow he broke to saddle…
(but alas, I’m sure it was in the box of photos lost in the divorce)
You know I gave up on saddle-breaking Pork Chop after “X” number of times being bucked off, and never even made the attempt w/Mickey!
I think her name was Free. I’ll ask his Mom if she has the photo. Dee
