I’ve been running around like a maniac! Didn’t like the bowl I picked for trifle yesterday (still don’t know which recipe I’m choosing) so got a nice one at a good price but now can’t get the sticky label off it, even after soaking, scrubbing and acetone. Now it looks even worse.

But I buy us each an ornament every Christmas, as my mother did when we were young. Last year it was a Scottish Laddie and Lass given our time there. This year Jim’s a lasso-ing snowman with Texas stars on his vest. I’m a reindeer cook, bearing cookies.

And at Sur La Table, they were 45% off. Nearly normal price! Cheers, Dee

  1. Don’t you hate those blasted labels?! I have the best of luck with lemon oil (I have some Formby’s stuff made for furniture). Takes the gunk right off. I bet those orange oil cleaners would work as well. Smells good too. I am leery of Goo-Gone since I ruined the door on a brand new microwave many years ago trying to get a massive label off (etched it something awful and I had to look at it for the next 7 years), but it’s probably OK on glass.

  2. I called and complained. Guy who sold it to me for $14 told me I had to go buy Goo be Gone. I told him I’d return it first. Then they told me it would take 24 hours to sharpen my Santoku knife. Useless. I got up the morning, took the trifle bowl out of the bag and took out a new SOS pad. Done! I won’t go back to that store for a while. Good to know about lemon oil, which I keep around for my teak gateleg table. Dee
