Lifeboat

OK, only 535 of us can get elected to the House and Senate to get premier health insurance for life. But as the US’s Titanic sinks we’ll make sure you get on shore safely and with health insurance and be able to buy a stamp (if they’re still available) or get your Social Security check to pay the rent because you had to sell the house because our money went to save banks and insurance and not homeowners and they spent it all on themselves.

Years ago I was told I could not be a member of the local park and recreation board because I was outside the district. I was not because a local zealot wanted to be be a big fish in a small pond so changed our district for herself then denied neighbors access. Then I was told I just wasn’t allowed. I asked the Director and she said all I have to do is sit in a seat for three monthly meetings. I sent a “tea party” letter about taxation without representation, many years before this Tea Party was formed, and was granted access after three horrifically boring meetings.

I ended up shortly thereafter as VP of the foundation that gave them their money. I always recognized the Revolutionary War actions in Boston but do not even recognize the name tea party in the zealots that are holding our country hostage through the budget shutdown that throws seniors into the brink.

Shall we call Mr. Cruz King George III?  He is attacking our country, after all. I have a solution. Let’s all go to the men’s room, open our fly’s and see who’s is biggest. Then they can all make things right and go home and stop passing stupid new laws. Your senior constituents will not like you if they aren’t getting the money you stole from their SSA. Not a happy camper,Dee

Dear Mr. Cruz,

Let’s add Mr. Boehner. Thank you for shutting down our government because you don’t want the government to work or to have senior citizens or anyone with pre-existing conditions to live.

Dear Mr. Boehner, your house has run amok and you’ve let it do so. If you plan on winning elections next year and the presidency in 2016 think again. You have p**sed off so many voters next year will be a rout. And they’ll have me watching over our people. Woody Guthrie would have said this land is your land, this land is my land, from California to the New York island….

You were just railroaded by 80 of your people and hundreds of thousands of people with families are out of work with no pay. Is that really what Republicans want?

This representative democracy is not about you, it’s about us, the people who elect you to represent our interests and pay your salaries. If one citizen cannot get a Social Security check and another cannot buy a stamp what kind of country are we? One that gets into wars as the international arbiter? If you don’t want to take care of us, why are we bailing out banks, mortgage and insurance companies and having a ten-year war against… what?

Remember Newt. He tried to shut down the government and failed spectacularly.

Please try to be of sound mind and do something right. I am a citizen who is losing my health insurance and social security, Thanks, Dee

Just Say “No”

That is what the Tea Party will have to do more than, now. It was easy to just say no to everything to get elected but now, once in office, people must actually have an agenda and public record to document their time in office. Permit us to hope that this entire exercise was not to just propel these people into office on a “NO” platform and have them stand and run on it for two years in office.

Let me guess, the next gambit is to attack their potential rivals for office. That may mean saying no to everything they promise. It will certainly mean saying a big NO to anything President Obama says as he runs for re-election.

Is that enough for a campaign? I don’t think it’s enough for a slogan or even a campaign button. It’s funny that I was the “Pollyanna” back in the day and now realize my lack of speaking up was a hindrance, my “wet behind the ears” doe-eyed wonder at having the learning experience of my dreams and lack of political savvy was pathetic. My years in government service were the best training ground of my life and I only wish I’d had that training before I started, so I could have hit the ground running.

Life experience is what trained me, and when I saw people my age head-butting the opposition I was afraid. As I’m much older now I would have taken on things differently but not like the “upstarts” did. I’ve always had an information-gathering and strategic approach but then was not allowed to do my job and negotiate our position. Consulting and volunteer work over a broad spectrum and many other aspects of growth have allowed me to be of better use for my family and friends.

In business, I’ve always been a problem-solver. Sometimes I have to sleep on it and the solution comes to me about 3:00 in the morning. No matter the issue, whether it be perosnal or professional, I can always propose one or more solutions to solve the problem.

When an entire “movement” that is not of a party and has no platform except to say “NO” that itself is against what I stand for as and American and as a voter. Have solutions handy or I’ll compare you to the cowards we dealt with years ago when we just wanted to let our dogs have a legal place to play. Cheers, Dee
