The Scots and their Hounds

I didn’t see Hickory, the Scottish Deerhound, win Westminster the other day but am proud that he did. I looked up the breed on Wikipedia and it mentions at the end that they don’t “excel” at obedience trials or games like flyball. Such a proud Scottish trait, I love it!

We spent several months living there and enjoyed the people very much, were in the middle of a major city so didn’t see many dogs though. My uncle has a very common Scot name. I called him on Skype when we were over there and asked if there were any relatives he wanted me to look up. He said his family left in the late 1700’s to help fight the French in Canada, but if I were to go into any pub in Scotland and ask if the patrons knew someone by his name, someone would surely “stand me a pint.”

Ah, maybe next trip! Cheers, Dee
