Mandela

When I was a child the first television I remember watching was the funeral of JFK. I was five years old and already had age-appropriate books on JFK, Lincoln and FDR. Also Annie Oakley and various ballet primas including Maria Tallchief and Isadora Duncan, Anna Pavlova and Martha Graham.

Today at age 5-10 I’d like to have a book on Nelson Mandela. He did something for the world that no-one else was able to do. I respect him for everything he did for his nation, his people and for the world. Flags should be at half mast here in the US and they are not because politicians only think of themselves and not their constituents or their beliefs.

I have worked over 30 years to help people and animals. It is nothing special, but Mr. Mandela gave us all a challenge to be a better person and help others and be a leader in helping others to do so.

Thank you, sir. Dee

Making a Difference

I join the vigil for Nelson Mandela. He and his compatriots changed a nation. He knows our best wishes are headed toward him and South Africa.

We Americans are a nation in turmoil and needing someone like President Mandela to sort things out.

Our prayers are with Mr. Mandela and his family, friends and supporters. It is my greatest hope that his legacy will inspire others to change for the better.

I’ve tried to make small changes to communities to make for a fairer life but this man went to prison for decades and emerged to lead his country. God bless Nelson Mandela. Good Lord love and protect him. Dee

Nelson Mandela

Some ask if it is time to ask this 94 year-old dignified man to die. I say it is time for him to live.

Live through his compatriots, his family, his country that finally after years in prison, embraced him as their leader.

Even if he lives to 100 or longer the country must he brought together and must stay together.

There is no time for tribal differences. Great strides were made in decades that cost some nations centuries for change to come to pass.

Please revere the leader that Mandela is, and honor him by pledging to keep his dream alive. With all my heart, Dee
