It’s strange that traffic is normal, everything is normal, but many businesses in Edouard’s path have let all their employees have the day off.
I took this photo, middle of the night. Closed the bathroom door and shot “the water blobs,” as Jim calls them. Four five-gallon collapsible jugs, part of the heretofore unopened hurricane kit we put together post “Rita.” We live in a small space so can’t afford to store hard plastic containers. Sorry about the unearthly yellow color – I closed the door and put on the bright light and hoped not to wake up Jim or the dog.
Jim went out last night to pick up a few last-minute items and brought me cream cheese to make Boursin, also crackers. So if a party breaks out we’ll be ready. I’ll try to get you a recipe for duxelles but have to make them first because I haven’t made them in years and never use a recipe. So I’ll see how it tastes and re-create for you.
I can’t tell you how strange it is to have a major storm off the coast and everything normal inland. It’s not like a tornado where everything goes red or yellow and dead calm quiet. It’s normal. Too darn normal! Even the Weather Channel is not posting regular information and instead touting a 7:00 a.m. “special.” Local news anchors/weather folks probably have the ubiquitous rain gear and umbrella (conveniently inside-out) for camera shots when it hits but have gone to bed hours ago.
Hours ago I opened up all the shades so we could see the storm when it rolled in early morning. Since then I’ve had to shut them or else the morning sun will toast us. More around noon when it really hits…. Dee
p.s. I laughed as I previewed this. Remember the pool in the movie “Cocoon?” Look at the yellow blobs….
