Parade?

A few weeks ago the nice collar I bought for the dog nearly ten years ago fell apart. It was hanging by the leash ring by the door with all her stuff and the buckle broke and half of it landed in my shoe below.

There’s a new dog in the neighborhood. She’s a shy pup, an American Silken Windhound, all black with the body of a whippet or small Greyhound but with long hair like an Afghan Hound or Borzoi. Gorgeous creature who would not even look at me a couple of months ago.

She now has a “forever home” and loving “mom.” Today she jumped on me for the first time. There’s nothing like being the dog and cat lady!

Anyway she has a gorgeous blue and gold silk hand-stitched collar, 1.5″ wide that looks beautiful against her black coat. When Zoe’s collar broke I asked about O’s collar and was told it came from a company called http://www.2hounds.com.

I found a gold and white Asian silk dragon pattern collar that goes with Zoe’s golden coloring, also 1.5″ wide. Everyone here and dog owners are complimenting her on her new collar. As in MIB , I tell folks “This is the last collar you’ll ever wear.”

Perhaps as a crusade for the new crosswalk I got put in where cars speed up and never stop we can wait for at least 20 dog owners to buy a Martingale silk, hand-stiched collar (takes two weeks) for $35 and we can all wear the black suits and call ourselves by initials – I’m reserving D – and Ms. P (yes, she has the letter P) is the chair of this event and we’ll walk down the street with our dogs in colorful silk collars and alert motorists to the importance of pedestrian/dog-friendly crosswalks.

btw Martingale collars have no buckles, they’re simply two fabric rings used mainly for dogs with really skinny heads and necks like Greyhounds et al. My dog is built like a fox and all she has to do is tilt her head and she could get out of the old broken collar. This new one has helped our local squirrel population tremendously as they run around collecting food and building their multiple apartments for a long, hard winter.

There is absolutely no remuneration for me mentioning this company. This site is not monetized. Plus, no animals were harmed in the writing of this post. Dee
