Nuns and Money

I just thought of this story from our youth and wanted to share it with you.

Under age ten, we had to leave school early to go to CCD (Catholic studies) at a nearby church.

The nun gave us our yearly supply, a box of envelopes for contributions to the Church with our name on them so our gifts could be counted.

My little sister said, no, sister, I don’t need this. Of course you do my dear, it is so that God knows that you believe in the Holy Roman Church. No, sister, I really don’t need it! Yes you do, dear. It will help you go to heaven.

NO, sister, I really don’t need it! Why? We go to St. Pat’s on Sundays, not St. Joe’s and that’s where I put my money.

Sister was dumbstruck. There was no further argument with my little sister. Brava, kid! Sorry, Sister. Dee

ps I wish nuns were allowed more flexibility and power in the Catholic church, not that I’m Catholic, have not been for many years because of their views on women and families. But it would be nice if over 50% of the populace was allowed to have a voice in spiritual matters.
