I hate clothes shopping, and shoes? Forget it. Yes, every husband’s dream, a wife who hates to shop. I don’t mind shopping for him as shopping for men is easy. I can buy him everything but pants, suits and dress shoes. Like a squirrel I just got two extra pairs of walking/dog walking shoes so we can “shop” in our closet and have him nice and comfy for the next couple of years because they closed out the style.
Grocery shopping is fun. Hopefully I’ll have time to make fresh rhubarb and a custard for dessert tonight. That’s an homage to Mom who died five years ago tomorrow. Also my lasagne which will take more than ten minutes because I have to boil the noodles.
I do love seeing what’s fresh and new at the grocery while coming up with what to cook tonight. But… the newest spot is La Terrazza. Yes, the terrace where we live and last year at my suggestion they put in several large pots with chives, thyme, oregano, basil, cilantro and parsley. I keep them from going to seed too soon (missed the cilantro, sorry) and pick from this garden regularly. Now that’s my kind of shopping. Herby fingers or a nice pair of scissors and dinner is complete. Tonight I’ve basil, oregano and parsley all sitting in a glass on the kitchen counter.
I’ll work on the vanilla custard now and get the lasagne noodles boiling so my love can start enjoying the weekend. First I must brush out Zoe. She has to look pretty because tomorrow we’re going to try to go to our first Blessing of the Animals at St. Francis. He is my favorite saint because of his care for people and animals.
The first prayer is for Shannon, the ten year-old dog of two dear friends from across this land, who is struggling for her life today.
Beware Zoe, ye who loves a bath but not Dee’s torture chamber of combs and brushes! Be well, Dee
PS No animals are to be harmed as a result of this post. Dee is just removing the end of the second undercoat of the summer so the third one can grow in and Zoe can be ready for cooler weather. D
I hate shopping for clothes, too. But it’s time. I’m starting to look a little ragged!
Enjoy the Blessing of the Animals. I’m missing ours; I’ll be at a Flock and Fiber Festival. I’ll get my animal fix that way. Sheep! Goats! Llamas and alpacas! And rabbits…
I taught my husband to do the sign of the cross and we blessed Zoe ourselves with a bit of water in a cross shape on her forehead. Yes, we missed it but for good reasons. Heathens.
Get Amazon Prime. You get movies and everything delivered to you free shipping in two days. My husband orders toilet paper, paper towels and tissues so I don’t have to drag them from the car! Find the clothes you want to replace and just re-order. Sage advice from an old gal. D
I’ve been pulling out tufts of undercoat off the dog to leave outdoors. I figure it’s very warm and she terrorizes the squirrels, they’re building their winter tree apartments so this is a good way to give back. Thank you, St. Francis.
PDX, I’ve joked for years about having an Alpaca farm! Well, if we do it I can always send wool. D
