An Old Friend From College…

B said: You know, if the Pilgrims were Catholic: A) they would never have left Europe, B) had they come, they would have “teamed-up” with the most powerful tribal leader and set-up a massive bureaucracy – spiritually enslaving the Natives. Within a few decades, Rome would have owned all of the land in return for the certainty that deceased family members were in Heaven and NOT Purgatory! I bellieve that Jesus came to save us from our sins – both past, present future – and that a simple expression of FAITH is all that it takes.

Dear B:

When it comes to wishing, I wish that the people who left to come to the new land actually espoused their oppsition to religious rule and its people and didn’t try to force their religion on the indigienous people. They appeared to come for freedom and instead hurt native peoples and brought in slaves thereafter. Perhaps we all believe we have a lot to atone for as Americans, as I do, but my family came in to escape Hitler and from other countries. Today, what would make English families sail for America centuries ago should make all but tea-partiers shudder as all the rich go to the Caymans with their money and the US is bankrupt.

I was a tea-partier in Revolutionary war ways, before it came back into vogue. My park was ruled by another park board that I wasn’t allowed to join. I fought it, then got all my neighbors to join then got appointed as VP for Develpment for the city’s park foundation. This snake has some sting as I told the initial comittee that we had taxation without representation and I was going before city council to prove it. They caved and let us be represented.

Oh, they hated us for years, me in particular, but I was then the person raising and giving them money. Beat them at their own game and do good. It’s the best revenge on people who only live to beat down others. I’ve a couple of jobs now for you and should add how to get your local semi-organization some street cred. (applications will be required for specifics).

Get involved with your kids’ schools, your local recreation center. If you’re serious take a course with your local police and also learn CPR. Don’t be afraid, just learn how to deal with things. And no, my husband grew up on a farm and knows how to use a gun but we do not have one. All of his family’s are in a safe. My older family has alarms and police and extra security, no guns. We have 24-hour security, no guns. All for now, I’m trying to get my peeps to give me some communiity policing info for you. Cheers. Dee
