Legit at Last

Nearly 2 1/2 years ago we put all our worldly goods in storage for a temporary consultancy 1,600 miles from home.  We packed a few clothes, our laptops, my food processor, my husband’s PlayStation III and the dog and drove two cars to an unknown place.

While we stayed at the Residence Inn near my husband’s office the first week, I looked for a place to live.  In the end we loved a small place with a great view, that was fully furnished, told them about the dog and moved in right away.  We thought this would be for 3-6 months while we got the lay of the land and saved up to bring our stuff here.

2 1/2 years later we’re still here.  A certain neighbor found out we were leasing this high-end ski condo about 18 months ago and has been lodging complaints every time I am seen taking our well-behaved, leashed dog for walks on a trail owned by the County.

The owner of our ski townhome asked the HOA to OK a dog for long-term tenants.  That required a board vote and a vote of all the owners.  We found out this morning that it passed, our owner who is now HOA president paid his fine and we’re legal.

So we had a nice dinner for neighbors, more on that tomorrow because apparently I’m about to lose the use of my wireless keyboard because the batteries are low and I don’t remember if they’re AA’s or AAA’s.  We usually have a battery stash on the frig door but it’s been dwindling.

It’s a banner day for us here, with one black cloud that’s been over our heads just vanishing into thin air.  We try to do right, live cleanly and quietly with an older, hipless dog.  We’re lucky to have some great neighbors who like having us here, even though we belong to a subspecies called renter.  Cheers, Dee

  1. That is wonderful news! I’m so relieved we don’t have any outlaws in the family (that I know of ;-) anymore…

  2. Whaddya mean, no outlaws? Don’t we all live in the wild west?
