That is what the Tea Party will have to do more than, now. It was easy to just say no to everything to get elected but now, once in office, people must actually have an agenda and public record to document their time in office. Permit us to hope that this entire exercise was not to just propel these people into office on a “NO” platform and have them stand and run on it for two years in office.
Let me guess, the next gambit is to attack their potential rivals for office. That may mean saying no to everything they promise. It will certainly mean saying a big NO to anything President Obama says as he runs for re-election.
Is that enough for a campaign? I don’t think it’s enough for a slogan or even a campaign button. It’s funny that I was the “Pollyanna” back in the day and now realize my lack of speaking up was a hindrance, my “wet behind the ears” doe-eyed wonder at having the learning experience of my dreams and lack of political savvy was pathetic. My years in government service were the best training ground of my life and I only wish I’d had that training before I started, so I could have hit the ground running.
Life experience is what trained me, and when I saw people my age head-butting the opposition I was afraid. As I’m much older now I would have taken on things differently but not like the “upstarts” did. I’ve always had an information-gathering and strategic approach but then was not allowed to do my job and negotiate our position. Consulting and volunteer work over a broad spectrum and many other aspects of growth have allowed me to be of better use for my family and friends.
In business, I’ve always been a problem-solver. Sometimes I have to sleep on it and the solution comes to me about 3:00 in the morning. No matter the issue, whether it be perosnal or professional, I can always propose one or more solutions to solve the problem.
When an entire “movement” that is not of a party and has no platform except to say “NO” that itself is against what I stand for as and American and as a voter. Have solutions handy or I’ll compare you to the cowards we dealt with years ago when we just wanted to let our dogs have a legal place to play. Cheers, Dee
