Biscuits

As you may recall, I’ve never been good with desserts, especially pastry. The only puff pastry I’ll ever use is from the grocery’s freezer case. So, I’m getting tired of toast in the morning and usually keep a store-bought brand of biscuit/pancake mix in the pantry, the kind that re-closes easily because I lived in the Lone Star State for long enough to know about mold and bugs.

While allowing hubby to sleep in yesterday I looked up new recipes. The recent one for cheddar bacon biscuits was tasty but a bit leaden, and I had bacon on hand but was out of cheddar. So I found a Paula Deen recipe that called for hand-made biscuits (lots of butter) which I instead made in the food processor. They’re not the prettiest things in the world and I should have added more milk even though the humidity was relatively normal yesterday. Since they used so much milk and butter I’m trying to toast a few this morning and should have one to try any second now. Perhaps the toaster will just be a buttery mess, but why not try?

Several new culinary experiments were tried in the last week alone, most were flops. Perhaps that’s why hubby wants to take me out of town this weekend, to remove me from the kitchen. Must go finish breakfast and laundry. Dog vomited before 6:00 this morning because someone allowed her to scavenge a nyla-bone on a walk. Not me! Enjoy your day, our week will be quite rainy but the cranes are out in it anyway. Cheers, Dee

  1. They were great in the toaster! Crispy outside and tasty inside. I’ve enough to get through tomorrow’s breakfast as well.
