Reunions

Hopefully we’ll get family together later this year for my father’s 80th birthday. We look forward to it. There are other important reunions, happy (such as a wedding) and sad (hospice care or a funeral).

Then there are things that just jump out ***Surprise*** over the years that just shake you up a bit and make life less of a rut. Like when my best friend in high school and I finally got online together and we ended up visiting across the country, in person for a couple of hours. We’ve been trying to get them out here but not yet. Nearly ten years ago my loving husband had moved out of town (we’d only known each other for a couple of months but talked by phone every night) and I got a call and thought it was him messing with me. Turns out it was a college buddy I’d known since the first day of orientation and now we keep in touch often and have even met for lunch in NYC.

It’s different when you’re in the same town all your life, you have family and stability and babysitters. When one moves around the US and overseas it’s tough, but much easier with Skype, email et al. We are happy here out west with great birds and sometimes moose right outside. If we were to be enticed to a city somewhere it would have to be one heck of an adventure.

I grew up in the East, Jim down south and we both admire the roots we came from but go where opportunity knocks. Know any good knock, knock jokes? We wish you joy and happiness. Cheers, Dee
