You know I love cooking. I enjoy knowing everything I can about techniques and ingredients so I can see a smile on someone’s face, even if it is the dog’s sometimes.
Passion for endeavors is essential, and I have that for cooking, caring for animals and any bug I get that makes me go into politics to get something done. Above all I love my husband, and get to do a lot of what I do because of what he does.
Tonight we had skirt steak marinated in olive oil and a salt mix at the last moment before grilling, baked potatoes with light sour cream and chives, and the first corn on the cob I’ve seen, brushed with butter and seasoned with salt and pepper. Tomorrow I go to take care of the adoptable kitties nearby then will finally get my hair done after several months.
I often think what got me cooking and it was probably to please people, as it still does. I distinctly recall men, including my father, criticizing the women because all they, and we kids, would talk about was food. They ate and enjoyed the food, which was superior to any restaurant food the 14 of us would eat. Whatever we made as kids and adults was far better than HoJo’s and other venues.
Today my dad, and all my siblings cook. They’re good. When it comes to animals and politics, that’s me. But tomorrow I will try to get a light over the stop sign (and a new stop sign as this one is faded) by the major grocery store as I’ve stopped and nearly been broadsided several times by someone in a huge vehicle who doesn’t see that it’s a four way stop so plows through it at 40 mph. Yes, I guess I keep busy.
A few new friends have come on the scene, adopting the internet after many years. College friends, and it’s good to see them all again and re-live the glory days back at school. Hey Dano, welcome back! Love you guys! Cheers, Dee
