Here in UT, where powder (as in snow) is king, many folks cannot afford the mortgages on their second homes, ski chalets with a view of several of the USA’s most venerated ski resorts. This is what I saw while walking the dog this morning. Brand new boots, discarded by visitors next to a dumpster.
Now the right wing seems to be telling us the recession is over, how could I have missed those signs? People around here have homes worth 2/3 what they bought them for five years ago, and some have been on the market for over two years. They don’t put perfectly good boots out with the trash. Give them to charity, sell them on Craigslist, but advertising rampant consumerism in a down economy is not the best idea. Here’s to a better day, Dee

That’s so strange.
I made a few phone calls and found a charity thrift shop to donate them to. They’re brand new snowboard boots. Now I’m having a better day! Dee
