A Light Dusting…

A light dusting of snow, say the 2-3 inches we received overnight, cover a multitude of sins. Sins like the black snow piled over 20 feet high on unused land, or covering dog urine on the groomed path by our home.

Our dog doesn’t eat yellow, grey or black snow but even at nearly seven years of age, she loves to eat freshly-fallen snow. She can easily go eight hours without going out but when there’s fresh snow… she doesn’t equate it with the fresh water she has inside! It’s like this great treat. She also loves to bound in the snow, sometimes up to her neck but she doesn’t care!

Kids have built a few snowmen and a few snow ramps for sleds et al. There are tracks nearby, preserved by the sun melting on the snow, then re-freezing at night, probably fox or coyote. I have not seen any ermine lately.

My home delivery company (organic food, milk in returnable glass bottles) re-vamped the surprise box so I tried it once again at $14.99 to spur my culinary innovation. Several pounds of red potatoes, three zucchini, one pineapple, several red delicious apples and several oranges. Something to work with.

This morning I had some sauteed potatoes (from the surprise box), onions and mushrooms from a steak I cooked a couple of nights ago, sharp cheddar that I grated. I sauteed two slices of bacon, removed them to a paper towel, added potatoes, mushrooms and onions then added two eggs and the cheese. Great omelet! I don’t even need lunch!

We may try to see True Grit today but missed the first showing. One thing we’re NOT going to do is run errands, which we did much of yesterday. I sent Jim and his filthy car through the car wash before the snow started to fall, so he could garage it until Monday morning. Wouldn’t you know it broke the arm off not a windshield wiper but a headlight wiper so he has to remove it and order another online. Oh well. At least we can now see that his car is dark blue, a fact that was questionable with a month of slush dried on it. Have a great day! Cheers, Dee
