My Wedding Ring

In our four-day wedding planning period I was able to order two 18K bands delivered. Jim takes his off in the shower each morning. When we’re away from home I place his ring on my thumb so it doesn’t go down the drain.

Mine, I kept on for years until recently. It is so dry up here that we now use udder balm for hand cream and I take off my ring as my fingers just shred and I took up guitar but gave it up for a while to get used to the air up here.

It’s strange to even take off my ring for a moment! It was difficult to get used to, but once one is used to it, it’s routine (my herding dog reinforced that a couple of years after I learned it on my own).

A couple of years ago I had both rings polished and had my birthday and our anniversary placed in Jim’s ring at his request. It seems like women don’t need that as a reminder. I never took mine off until recently, and only for a moment. Cheers, Dee

  1. He places his ring on my thumb, knowing I’ll take care of it and that it means something to him. He always does so in a hotel, any place other than his folks where he places it on the bathroom counter. It’s a sweet gesture. Don’t tell him so. Dee

  2. I take my rings off at night, but Phil never takes his off. He used to take his World Series ring off to wash his hands, and was always misplacing it. Now it lives in the bank box!
