It cleared out…

and the sky is as bright as it has ever been. I don’t even know what I’m seeing but the stars are out, one and all, and no light pollution (another feature of living here) except for this computer monitor so I will turn it off immediately after this post.

It will be a busy week with much to do and family coming to town for a visit. Jim can’t take any more time off work right now so I’ll help fill the days with fun and sight-seeing.

Our summer market begins on Sunday, and we will invite a new neighbor to join us in the spirit of summer and sun and silliness. The week’s menu is simple and changeable depending upon local produce. I have received a couple of esoteric ingredients over the past week and look forward to trying Yakitori chicken skewers as part of a dinner. For that I needed ketjap manis, a sweet Indonesian soy sauce.

Otherwise it’s simple stuff, to make a seven year-old feel comfy “at home.” The mountains are simply gorgeous and I love looking out in the mornings. Before family arrives Wednesday I still need to do many things around here, including washing the dog (and stowing her equipment) and brushing her out. Jim needs to add new plumbing fixtures to help with this task, which may or may not happen.

The dog, Zoe, scratched me on Saturday morning, drawing blood. She didn’t mean to do so but I had her nails groomed so she would not scratch our guests accidentally. They used a dremel tool on the finish to make sure the nails were smooth and would not hurt anyone.

I’m not overly concerned about hosting guests for a week (OK, I am) but the main thing is taking back my dining room table, that has been my office for over a year. If time permits, I’d also like to do a bit of planting but held myself back today at the shops as I’ve already killed one tomato plant due to frost.

We got the snow tires off on Saturday and my car has a harder, more responsive ride. Now it needs to be thoroughly cleaned, that may or not happen before guests. There’s only so much one can do. We did take a small break this afternoon and saw “Date Night.” We were the only people in the theatre. It was kind of funny but I expected more from these two brilliant stars.

Back to brilliant stars, I’ll stick with the real thing. Signing off now. Cheers, Dee

ps I would need a very long shutter speed to get a night photo for you. And my shutter speed tech is sound asleep, along with the dog I need to take out in a few hours. G’night.
