Family and friends, a no-brainer.
The dogs and owners we’ve fraternized with for years.
Spec’s, a specialty store where I can actually find Lebkuchen at Christmas, cheeses galore, pastas, sausages, bacon, wine, and any kind of pickle or mustard or hot sauce you might want.
Being able to pick up a bottle of wine at the grocery store instead of having to drive to a State store. The mere thought of it makes one feel like a criminal.
Our favorite restaurant haunts, including Christian’s Tailgate midtown (2nd best burger nationwide according to April 2008 Playboy magazine, hey, the waitress told us!), Houston’s, El Tiempo, Mia Bella and the place we had one anniversary dinner on Mid, Crappito’s.
Allen of Import Automotive in the Heights. He’s been the greatest thing since a car wash to our cars.
An occasional snow, enough to make a mini-snow-person. Temperate weather six months of the year.
Freedom Over Texas fireworks! July 4th extravaganza and us, locked in, on the roof with the best view in town.
Pyro Paula, who produces these events, firecracker that she is, I walked by their setup last year and heard “ZOE!!!” and it was Paula, who has dogs and still loves ours. She emailed me yesterday about this year’s pared-down event and said to tell Zoe hello.
What I Don’t Miss:
Hot, humid summers, nearly $300/mo. A/C bills, and closing our street every other week without notice due to some event.
Cheers! It’s raining like crazy here and I’m trying to find a break to get out and do errands. Dee
