First let me explain the earlier blog. I do think of things other than cooking and write on other issues. Fellow WordPresser Mike was kind enough to post a political poem of mine on his political blog. I have several hard-core knitters on this blog and would not post about knitting on a cooking blog except to tell you I’ve taken up knitting! I’d share information with knitters to knitters.
I can’t ask your permission to get into the arts or politics or even country-western music, because I had all that before you were here.
Now down to brass tacks, or 18K gold. Jim and I eloped, married 6 years next month. Apparently the food I’ve been making has led to a need for expansion (1/2 size) of his wedding ring. As it would be left for a few days over Thanksgiving, we decided to get our wedding date and my birth date engraved in his ring.
Yesterday when I picked it up, it was gorgeous. No, I couldn’t read the dates inside but he can with the right light and his contacts. Mine looked so sad beside it! I asked if it could be cleaned. The jeweler told me it needed to be polished. So for 24 hours I had no wedding ring, a very strange feeling, so when I picked it up today I felt like a new bride with a bright and shiny ring.
I guess that’s our 6th anniversary gift to each other! And I ran into neighbor Ed, raised Jewish but who is an ordained minister who would love for us to renew our vows with him as officiant. Since I care for his cats, perhaps they and our dog would stand up for us. And we’ll do it on the illegal dog lawn (illegal for off-leash dogs). Actually, it sounds perfect, but first we have the holidays to get through.
In the end the more things change, the more they stay the same. The same life events befall everyone, from birth to marriage to death. It’s up to us to have some fun with our lot in life. Cook a little. Dee, who can’t let Frodo or worse find my shiny ring.
Congratulations on the impending anniversary! And congrats on the knitting, too. What’s on your needles?
That was an example, not what I’m knitting. I’m not even set up to knit and don’t know how to start so will have to check your blog to do that. After the holidays.
That said, it’ll be at least ten years from when I start before I dare tell you what’s on my needles.
I’m writing more these days, Jim thinks I should write a book. I think I should get through the holidays then decide what to do. Very busy this upcoming week and will be in touch. Dee
If I let the dog roam sans leash, she will go and eat the mulch from around the “Ike’d” trees, now staked and mulched and still alive,
Well, no-one ever told me I had to feed a dog, just let her eat sticks and stuff. Yes, she gets raw and dry food, dry food in case there’s a hurricane her tummy can handle it.
