For a few weeks each year, Satsuma tangerines are in season. They peel easily and to me they taste like candy. I awakened early, buoyed by the thought of having Zoe groomed with short nails and no undercoat, plus spending her morning at doggie daycare.
A few minutes ago my hands were dripping tangerine juice into the kitchen sink and my taste buds were reveling in sweet orange juice. The ones we get in Texas aren’t quite as sweet and easy to peel as the ones I used to get in California, but well worth the effort. Unfortunately they’re too messy for Jim to take to work so he’ll have to stick to apples and Clif bars.
Look for Satsumas at your favorite grocery or farmer’s market. Enjoy! Dee
