Trying to Reason (with Hurricane Season)

Looks like Ike may be on its’ way. The other day Jim bought a tarp and two 6-gallon hard-sided water containers (in addition to or to sub for the “blobs”). We’ll check the weather daily and I’ll stock up on food and ice as needed.

Today we went to Sam’s Club for the first time in over a year. I love buying yeast there, as I can share a year’s worth with three other friends and can always count on the freeze-dried yeast to be good even though I didn’t see a date on it.

We went for some office supplies but ended up with apples, prosciutto and fontina for Chicken Saltimbocca that I’ll make for Sunday dinner, but so many things are sold in such large quantities and I don’t have storage space for dry goods or frozen and forget the frig.

We never go there because we live downtown and all the “box stores” are further out so remain off the radar. But for a party, I found premium nuts for half the price, and a lot of other items for such an event. Speaking of events I’ve a couple to plan, hope all works out. The first involves bats, and the second is a surprise for a good friend.

The weather is cooling off a bit but the plastic card was certainly getting warm today. Now, after eating our way through the pantry all summer, I have to take inventory and re-stock. Canned tomatoes, tomato paste, rice, stock, pasta, etc.

I’ll get it done before Ike pays a visit. Just ticking down the list but do like to spend some time with Jim over the weekends. Dee
