No News = Good News

It’s been windy all day today but not a drop of rain. I feel for the folks from Louisiana who are inundated with flood waters yet again. We expect some rain but nothing serious.

Family and friends are checking in from all over – thanks! All we can tell them is that the trees are swaying considerably more than usual but that the sun is out!

I wanted to make gyros tonight, thanks Alton Brown, but neglected to fully read the recipe which calls for chilling the meat for two hours or overnight before serving. Whoops, I’m usually better than that. Years ago I read a recipe for a Moroccan tagine that called for preserved lemons. I read the recipe and made sure I had all the ingredients. Down at the bottom of the page there was a note that said, two weeks before serving, preserve the lemons… Never made that dish!

So it’s a sizeable roast chicken with some red potatoes, and either fried green tomatoes or pan-grilled Japanese eggplant.

Hope you had a great Labor Day. Off to start dinner. Dee
