It’s Friday

and I’m so looking forward to a quiet weekend. Last weekend was nuts. I’d like to cook/entertain at least once this weekend but it’s going to be on the fly.

The sun is out today, first time in a week, and I feel like grilling. Steak comes to mind. Baked potatoes, fully loaded for my TX guy. Corn on the cob. Perhaps a Greek salad with Romaine and feta. Watermelon.

That sounds like a plan. I’m working on two parties and submitting a proposal to teach a couple of cooking classes so things are busy here.

I so look forward to our regular Saturday “lunch and a movie” dates. It gives us time to catch up with each other’s lives and I don’t have to cook, not that I regard cooking as a chore. But face it, it’s not all artistry and creativity. It’s putting a good meal on the table, day after day, meal after meal. I try to keep it interesting.

Still, adulation comes in inverse proportions to effort expended. Four hours making a great dinner is OK, ten minutes is FANTASTIC! I know, how can this happen? It does. And then the cook does all she can do NOT to turn into Sandra Lee.
