Klutz II

Bad idea. We had front row box seats at the Astros game today – won 3-0 against AZ Diamondbacks – and half the people in our small section were wearing baseball gloves! This is apparently where a lot of the “homers” are hit, unbeknownst to me, baseball neophyte and klutz extrordinaire (this week only).

I told the kid next to me and his little brother, both wearing gloves, that they were welcome to a ball that was sent to knock me senseless, IF they caught it in time.

Lunch was at a BBQ place on-site where I had a platter of ribs, a sausage, ear of corn and potato salad before sitting in our prime seats, thanks to Jim’s new employer. Before the game they retired Craig Biggio’s number 7 and had a celebration that we watched on TV from the restaurant. It was good but more food than we could eat.

We picked up a couple of gifts at the Astros shop. Then we came home and had Jan’s homemade Sangria with lots of tasty fruit, bucherondine and crackers, and fresh watermelon. We were supposed to have the Sangria out at the pool but a brief gully-washer nixed that idea.

Jim puts salt on his watermelon, which I find quite strange as Southerners usually like things sweet. It’s been an eventful and very social weekend.
