Tropical Storm/Hurricane Edouard

We’re ready to stick this one out as long as we can. We used our hurricane kit for the first time and have 23 gallons of potable water (20 in 5 gallon collapsible containers (water blobs, my husband calls them). We have food and even MRE’s from REI, a portable grill and propane tanks, and 60 pounds of ice. We have candles and a flamey thing.

I’m about to make Lazy Chicken and we’ll have leftovers. Spaghetti and meatballs if all else fails. Grilled cheese sandwiches with Cabot cheddar.

In case our neighbors want to throw a party I’ve ingredients for several hors d’oeuvres, including cocktail rye toasts with mushroom duxelles, and tortilla chips with homemade guacamole and bottled pineapple salsa (Jim’s selection). Darn it, I should have gotten cream cheese for Boursin, and crackers. Oh well.

Jim couldn’t start his new job today because his “environment” isn’t set up yet. They let everyone go at four this afternoon and no-one is coming in again until Wednesday when the worst of Edouard has passed. Wish us luck! Dee
