Hurricane Edouard

It just hit about a half an hour ago and may turn into a hurricane (just did) and/or tornadoes. So far just rain and lighning and thunder. I didn’t get any good photos because the shutter speed was so slow that the lighning is gone before it clicks. But before it started raining, the first bolt of lighning was spectacular, rivaling the fireworks here a few weeks ago. That’s what sent me running for the camera. But as Jim and Zoe were running in from the “dog lawn” to escape the downpour, all I got was a rain-soaked window!

There is a downside to eating one’s way through one’s pantry. For the past few weeks we’ve been sure that we’d be moving out of state. Let’s use up some spaghetti tonight, and I’ll use those two 28-oz cans of tomatoes to make a sauce. Checkmark. Now what shall I do with those hearts of palm? All so we wouldn’t have to move heavy canned goods! So we’re not in as good shape for a hurricane as we were a few weeks ago. I’ll replenish…

We’re staying right where we are, at least for 6 months to a year. Yea! Jim took a consulting gig in town and should start tomorrow or Tuesday. More when it’s “real.” I’m planning a “Staying” party in a couple of weeks when things settle down and we’ll host an open house to celebrate our newly-found good fortune.

So wish us well and I’ll share some more information after Jim’s had a few days on the job. And after I’ve had a few days to pick up the pace around here and do things that have slipped on the priority list with Jim AND Zoe underfoot. Yes, I love them both but Zoe leaves her fur everywhere and Jim deserves my nickname for him, The Human Tornado.” I asked him to put the rug vacuum away the other day and he wound up the cord and left it sitting in the middle of the living room. Just found dirty socks on our new sofa. You get the picture.

Tomorrow’s Monday. Let’s hope Jim doesn’t need to hire a boat to go to his new place of employment. Dee

  1. Congrats to Jim on the new gig!

  2. It’s now a hurricane, Category 1 (the lowest category for those not in the know).
