Preparations

Everyone here is having people over for the fourth, because it’s THE place to be. Regarding Franciscans, my college education is due to the friars.

Perhaps I was a reluctant student because I was very shy. In grade school my music teachers inspired me to learn, as did a terrific math teacher in 7th grade. In high school my French and history teachers, and gymnastic coach held sway.

In college I lost my way a bit Freshman year but coasted to Dean’s List five semesters out of eight. But Fr. Cap and Fr. John made me want to learn. I thrived in their classes and just wanted more.

Back to the college philosophy and entertaining for July 4th… I ran into two young girlfriends this morning while out with the dog. They’re both having people over tonight and said, “OK, let’s meet at the pool.”

I scribed a menu days ago and am cooking and tidying up and making sure I have enough ice. Guess that’s what happens a couple decades later! It’s worse than that— I posted my menu here! I think Jim’s geek-ness is rubbing off on me. It’s only been 7 years. No, I’ve always loved hosting parties.

Have a patriotic 4th, Dee
