How do you know?

My loving husband expected to start a new job in a few hours but that was not to be. Not his fault, he got the offer (belatedly), passed the drug and background checks and it was in the bag. I bought him peonies and made him a special dinner.

A few days ago we bought a copy of the DVD “Enchanted” which both of us enjoyed at the theater. No kids but we love going to good movies, whether it’s A Bug’s Life or Harry Potter or something more adult like a PG or even an occasional R. A great site for previewing upcoming movies is http://www.rottentomatoes.com. Jim’s not here to help me navigate html tags and it’s 3 a.m. so you’re gonna have to do this all on your own.

I digressed. Enchanted is a princess story that contains the last bit of hand-drawn animation the world will ever see. It has several huge production numbers.

To celebrate the new job I added this movie to our cart last week and we watched it together. If you’ve ever had a song stick in your head you’ll know what I mean because this one’s been there for days.

They sing, with gusto and hundreds of people, about how do you know you love him? How do you know he really cares. How do you know he loves you?

It’s been rambling around in my brain and I can’t get rid of it. Yes, I love him for his idealism, openness, honesty and being methodical, although sometimes the whole package drives me nuts. But if I was a single gal stuck by the side of the road he would be my Prince Charming, who changed the tire and sent me on my way. Sorry gals, there’s this ring on my finger that has been there for over five years.

He loves me because I’m the perfect foil for his brains (we’re both smart but he’s a scientist and I’m an artist) and emotional well-being. Not to mention that every time she sees him, his grandmother says “it looks like Dee is feeding you well.”

I know he loves me, I love him and we’re going to work through this together. Maybe when we get over it this song will stop playing in my head because right now I don’t want to see Enchanted again!

Never mind, we’ll keep it for the kids who visit, along with Ratatouille and others. Happy Monday, Dee
